International trade is changing. New digital processes are rapidly transforming the way that businesses share their data.

It’s therefore vital for Australian businesses to equip themselves with the knowledge they'll need to succeed in this transitional phase.

For businesses, this digital transformation presents a wealth of opportunities.

You can learn how to capitalise on those opportunities and mitigate risks when growing your business in Australia and internationally at a special free breakfast event in Sydney next month.

Coface, a global leader in risk management, in conjunction with NCI Trade Credit Solutions, will host the event – The Digital Transformation of Global Trade – to prepare exporters for the digital revolution.

Exporting is big business in Australia, and it’s getting bigger.

New opportunities abroad

The latest data from the Australian Trade and Investment Commission shows that in 2016-17, the export sector grew by nearly 20 per cent, rising in value by $47.5 billion to a total worth of $291.6 billion.

Much of this growth has been driven by new opportunities abroad – particularly in Asia – as well as a shift to digital processes such as Blockchain that make international trade easier and more efficient.

The digital transformation will facilitate the flow of data between countries without compromising security, while also lowering costs, reducing trade frictions and boosting consumers’ certainty in the quality and ethical standards of products.

Exporters must embrace these new technologies to compete successfully on the global stage.

At the Coface networking breakfast, to be sponsored by the Export Council of Australia and the French Australian Chamber of Commerce, Coface Australia CEO Graham Crozier will outline the challenges that lay ahead for exporters in the digital environment.

Guest speakers include:

-Carlos Casanova, Asia Pacific Economist, Coface, an expert in Asian economies and sectors. Mr Casanova will provide insights on the region’s economic and industrial outlooks.

-Lisa McAuley, Executive Director of the Global Trade Professionals Alliance (GTPA), former chief executive of the Export Council of Australia. Ms McAuley, a champion of international trade, will discuss The Digital Vision for 2025.

-Garry Hay, Associate Director, ANZ Bank, with more than 30 years’ experience in the finance industry. Mr Hay will take part in an insightful panel discussion on the digital future of trade, to be facilitated by newly appointed ECA CEO Alina Bain.

-Ms Bain, a former CEO of the Australian Services Roundtable has had over 23 years’ experience working in diverse sectors and is an expert in world trade.

The Digital Transformation of Global Trade will be held at the Hilton Hotel, Sydney on May 15.
